Feng Yi Chen
Feng Yi Chen’s oil painting is instinctively to remind us the Chinese literal painting. He features still life but he does not focus on objects’ outlines and details. Instead, as an artist, he delivers his statement of art. In his paintings, cliffs and rocks are drifting as light as textiles; nevertheless, textiles seem to be made of fog and fog grows together to make a shape of a goldfish. “Pictures in Poems and Poems in Pictures”. Feng Yi Chen attempts to reach maximum freedom of expression beyond the appearance of an object.
Feng Yichen was born in Tianjin, China in 1986. He graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in 2010 and now lives in Beijing. His representative series are “According with Sweetbitter” and “The Book of Silence”. “Inner View” is the latest series. With the concept of reality in virtual scenes, he redefines meanings of objects. Streams and cliffs in landscape obscure the boundaries between organic and nonorganic matters, hard and soft, animals and natures, and so on. He changes definition of materials in his paintings that present a fun and surreal phenomenon in reality.
